You've Got Questions.... We've Got Answers

When working together, it’s our focus to provide you with not only a beautiful and functional interior that you love but a smooth and enjoyable process that gets you to the desired end result. This is a measurement of success that we try our best to achieve through careful planning and organization so that while walls may be being torn down and it might feel chaotic sometimes, you are able to have a delightful experience through it all.

Let's take a look at some of the most common questions & the ins and outs of a design project below.

Do you charge a consultation fee?

The initial 15 mins phone consultation is free. During that call, we assess your desired end result and discuss the best package to fit your needs. For our full-service design + management package, a design consultation is required to move forward and holds a cost of $525 due at the time of booking. This value is credited towards to full-service proposal package.

As well, our 90 mins 1:1 Design Strategy session is available for more in-depth consultations where a sounding board is desired to execute the design on your own and has a fee of $425.

Can you walk us through the process of selecting a contractor?

Absolutely! We specialize in contract documents and reviewing contractor quotes to ensure the full scope is captured and accounted for. We will help you review quotes, compare apples to apples, and provide our expert comments and opinions to ensure you are making the most educated decision and everyone is on the same page for expectations and requirements. A renovation or new build is a big financial undertaking, we want to make sure your money goes as far as possible.

How early is too early to start planning a design project?

It is never too early and it is always better to give yourself more time than you think necessary, rather than not enough. Design and construction generally take longer than people anticipate, and product lead times are greater than anticipated. It is better to start the process off sooner rather than later.

Is staging of the house or room included in the packages?

The only package in which this is included is our Full-Service Design + Management package. In all other packages, guidance and direction are provided to create that polished, finished look that screams a professional was here, but the final staging and decorating would be in your lovely capable hands.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept e-transfer, Visa, Mastercard, Amex, and for local clients debit thru our provider Square.

Do you help with budget management?

  • Full Service: Full budget management for the duration of the project is included as part of the project management component inside our full-service package. We find it is the most successful way to ensure the budget is aligned and to be able to track construction costs as the project progresses. Payment of any engaged vendors and contractors would fall under the client's scope after review of the invoice and approval for payment is provided by our team against the budget value.
  • Design Packages: During the design meeting, a project budget is discussed for each design package type to ensure the items selected and the proposed design solution fits within your budget expectations. An excel file with clickable links is shared as part of the design packages and includes the value of selections where applicable.
  • Designer On Call: Absolutely. If this is an element that you would like included as part of the hourly packages, we are more than willing to extend our expertise to prevent budget pitfalls.

The Ins and Outs

To help bring clarity to the design process as a whole, we have assembled a list of items that frequently come up on projects and throw clients for a loop.

Murphy's Law

If something can go wrong, it generally will. Thankfully, teamwork, strong communication, and a lot of coffee generally get things back on track.

Deposits

Items requiring purchasing outside of the contractor scope (furniture, lighting, accessories, fixtures, appliances etc.) can either be purchased directly by the client or by Jeengi with an applied 15% design management charge. Purchased products by Jeengi will only be ordered when a signed proposal and a deposit of 100% is collected.

Discontinued Items

There will be times when a selected item will no longer be in stock. While it is disappointing and often inconvenient, we will find acceptable replacements and solutions.

Freight Damage

Unfortunately, merchandise may be damaged in shipment. Resolution may be in the form of discounts, pick up and reshipping items, or local repair. The factory generally makes this decision. We will resolve this in a timely manner on your behalf.

Clear Communication

Communication is the ultimate key to success on any project, and design and construction is no exception. The preferred method of communication for Jeengi Design Group is email and responses will be made within 24 hours. We also provide Voxer access for urgent matters. Should an emergency decision be required and the client is not available, Jeengi will make an informed decision based on the available information.

Order Updates

We will keep you updated on the progress of all orders and share information that the factories and workrooms share with us. This information may not always be accurate or what you would like to hear, but we wholeheartedly believe in honesty and transparency to execute the best project possible.

Installations

Jeengi will schedule all deliveries and installations of millwork, cabinetry, and furniture. We try to make the deliveries as smooth as possible, but sometimes murphy's law comes in. Generally, we try to be present at all deliveries to set the items in place and review the order.

Strive For Perfection

Nothing is perfect; humans make mistakes and this needs to be understood. With this in mind, it is the Designer's job to define the Industry Tolerance level based on experience and manage expectations appropriately.

Deadlines

Unfortunately, special events and parties do not make things happen sooner. As your advocate in this process, we want the project to finish as quickly as possible, as well as to the highest standards. In busy holiday seasons, expect things to take a bit longer than expected as shops and mills close so lead times become extended. This is where our clear communication policy comes into play.

Warranties

Warranties are available on most installed product and are a requested item. It is the client's responsibility to request warranties on all applicable items and review prior to purchase.

Restocking and Cancellations

Sometimes a factory will allow (non-custom) merchandise to be returned with a restocking fee. This fee ranges from 10%-60% plus the freight of the item. Sometimes a factory will allow cancellations if an item has not shipped yet. Often there is a cancellation fee. The client is responsible for these fees.
